WHY THIS BLOG
I am 55 years old and have been slowly working toward my PPL for the last 20 months. I purchased a Cessna 150 and have developed such a close relationship with this airplane. I am making final preparations to take my written exam and am just a week or two from finally doing my first solo (just about have my landings consistent, i.e. safe) My wife, Julie has also started lessons. We simply thought this blog would be a great way to document our progress and maybe allow us to be a bit more accountable with our learning curve and experiences. Our instructor is our oldest son! It has been a marvelous experience.

My training for my PPL
This past week or so has been exciting! I am trying to finish up all my necessary tasks prior to my PPL EXAM on the 27 th of February. So much to do and challenging levels of competence to be at for the examiner. My instructor, (my son Curtis) has been terrific about making time for my practice. Last Thursday I was able to do a solo flight to Twin Falls with a full stop landing in Jackpot. The flight went well and the radio communications went alright too. Currently working on landings, short field landings and instrument flying under the hood. Exciting today with a 9 kt quartering headwind from 220*. Opportunity to practice with L aliron and plenty of right rudder.
